We’re sure you have some questions about this service, as did we, and we hope that they are covered below.

How does the service work?

Equifax provides automated income and employment verifications through its integration with Future Systems, providing a more private transfer of information to verifiers on the employers’ behalf. The service is governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and only accessed by credentialed verifiers with auditable, permissible purposes.

How does the service benefit you, the employer?

The Work Number is an automated service that provides efficient and timely income and employment verification service, which frees the employer from responding to these requests, often saving significant time, eliminating manual entry, while also protecting employees’ privacy. Plus, it’s provided at no cost to the employer.

How does the service benefit my employees?

From car loans to home mortgages to government assistance, your employees routinely encounter the need for income and employment verification. Now, we can automate those income and employment verifications with The Work Number. Automation helps employees get faster decisions 24/7 for credit and benefits.

What about FCRA compliance?

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is a Federal Law that promotes accuracy, fairness and privacy for the data used by Consumer Reporting Agencies (CRAs), including Equifax. Verifications completed through The Work Number® service from Equifax are consumer reports and must fully adhere to FCRA requirements, including ensuring employee consent and that there is a permissible purpose to income verification requests. Failure to furnish accurate information or to correct information that is determined to be incomplete or inaccurate can also result in penalties to the CRA and to the furnisher of the data under the FCRA.
